It just sucks out every ounce of fear (if there even is any fear to take away) and replaces it with just frustration and anger. Speaking of puzzles, they are needlessly complicated, and seem to only be put there not as a genuine challenge that makes sense in the setting of the story, but rather as something to pad out the runtime. I just felt pure frustration, knowing that I'll have to do the same maze and puzzle shit 300 more times. Every time I got to a new stage I wasn't filled with joy, not even fear of what was coming next. Every level is just the same tedious formula of "go through maze to find thing to open exit". Literally every single level of apeirophobia is the exact same thing copied and pasted with just a new coat of paint.
